1. From Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > Options > Other Tab > Advanced Options > COM Add-ins
2. Check if pdfDocs is in the list of COM Add-ins, and if so ensure it is enabled. If pdfDocs is not in that list, then please proceed to step 3
3. Click OK to close all screens and then restart Microsoft Outlook – a restart is required for Microsoft Outlook to load the COM Add-ins
Now pdfDocs integration options should all appear in Microsoft Outlook. If not, please proceed to step 3.
Step 3: Register the COM Add-in with Windows
In the event that pdfDocs was not listed as a COM Add-in in step 2 above, we must now ensure that the file loaded into Microsoft Outlook can be located by Microsoft Outlook. This file is named outlookaddin.dll and is located in the Resources folder in the pdfDocs Desktop application directory, usually at C:\Program Files\pdfDocs\Resources\outlookaddin.dll.
This file must be registered with Windows. Note that this can only be done if you have Administrator rights to your machine.
.NET Framework assemblies (DLLs) are registered with Windows using the Assembly Registration Tool, regasm.exe, supplied with the .NET Framework. regasm.exe is located in the .NET Framework directory, typically located at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322 for v1.1 of the .NET Framework.
To register the outlookaddin.dll file:
1. Open the Command Prompt by selecting Start > Run, and type cmd. Click OK to open the Command window:
2. Navigate to the location of the outlookaddin.dll file using the Change Directory command, cd (e.g. cd c:\program files\pdfdocs\resources)
3. Run the regasm.exe tool with the outlookaddin.dll file as an argument (e.g. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\regasm.exe outlookaddin.dll)
4. Once the file has been registered, restart Microsoft Outlook and follow the instructions at step 2 again. pdfDocs Desktop should now be listed in the Microsoft Outlook COM Add-ins list
