This knowledge base article is ONLY relevant to clients who are upgrading to or performing a fresh installation of pdfDocs Desktop 3.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
With the continued advancement of pdfDocs Desktop, we are pleased to say pdfDocs Desktop 3 will be taking advantage of the latest technologies available to us.

Fresh Installation of pdfDocs Desktop 3
During the attempted installation of pdfDocs Desktop 3, the installer will check for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. If not installed, it will warn you that .NET 3.5 needs to be installed.
The installation will stop at this point.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 needs to be installed first, then the installer for pdfDocs Desktop 3.x will need to be re-run.
Upgrades to pdfDocs Desktop 3
For upgrades from versions prior to pdfDocs Desktop 3.x, during the attempted installation of pdfDocs Desktop 3, the installer will check for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. If not installed, it will warn you that .NET 3.5 needs to be installed.
The installation will continue.
Once pdfDocs Desktop 3 is installed, each time the application is launched, the application will again check to see if .NET 3.5 is installed.
If this check determines that .NET 3.5 isn’t installed, a warning message will be presented to the user and pdfDocs Desktop 3 will not launch.
This scenario may occurr if the current installed version of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is corrupt in some manner.
